There are two Diaconal Community Retreats scheduled for next year. You may pick one of these retreats or attend another retreat to make your annual retreat commitment. If you choose to participate in one of our deacon and wives retreat, please let Liz Misamore know which retreat you will be attending.
The first retreat is March 7-9, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Retreat in Putnam. Father Frank DeSiano, CSP will be leading this retreat. Father Frank is the former president of the Paulists and wrote many of the documents on implementing the Bishop’s plan for Evangelization in the United States. Fr Frank will focus on the deacon as a disciple, leading others to discipleship. Please note that the date for this retreat has changed. The original date was in February but due to scheduling, the retreat as been moved to March.
The second retreat is June 20-22, 2008 at Ender’s Island, Mystic. Monsignor Charles Murphy of the Diocese of Portland will be leading this retreat. Monsignor Murphy is the vicar for deacons in his diocese and a well known author on a wide range of topics ranging from the formation of clergy to spirituality. As more information about the retreats is available, it will be posted here. If you have any questions regarding the retreat, please contact me by calling 860 841 0046 or by e-mail at: director@norwichdeacons.org.
Please let your pastor know which retreat you are planning to attend. As a reminder, the parish you are assigned to is responsible for the annual retreat fee for both deacon and the deacon’s wife. The cost of the Putnam retreat is $150.00 per person and the cost for the Enters Island retreat is $190 per person. Payment for the retreat is to be sent to Liz Misamore at the Chancery (payable to Diocese of Norwich Diaconate). Since space is limited at both retreat houses, please register soon to ensure your first choice.
